I only just knew the term headache & how it felt, never bother to educate myself on causes of headaches or types of headaches. Headache or pain in the head is a common phenomenon in people of all age groups. Interestingly not much medical research is available to such a common ailment. Now i have gotten out of my lazy mode and equipped myself with some basic knowledge of headaches which i will like to share here.
Headaches have some sure shot triggers like:
- Stress due to too much work or tasks in your do to list, when you are running against time.
- Lack of sleep, not getting adequate rest or relaxation.
- Too much screen time be it tv, laptop, mobiles etc.
- Not hydrating enough like not drinking your daily quota of Water.
- Not breathing properly like breathing with short breadths mostly.
Hence if one can avoid most of the above they are not likely to be bogged down by pesky headaches. In India it is believed drinking a strong cup of Milk Tea (Kadak Phiki Chai) can definitely cure headaches (trust me it is effective at times maybe because of caffeine in tea) . Headaches can be of a few types like Primary Headaches (most common), Migraines (Face/Sinus/Spondylitis Pains) and Cluster Headaches (Pain concentrated behind an eye). I get Cluster headaches mostly and according to a TEDed YouTube video which i will link below, causes of Cluster headaches are unknown.
Here is what i do to deal with my Cluster Headaches, i am against popping pills all the time for every small ailment. I do Jal Neti , it is a simple Ayurvedic technique of pouring lukewarm saline water from one nostril and letting it pour out from the other nostril, all this time breathing calmly from the mouth. One has to also tilt their head forward and sidewards to guide the flow of water. What these does is it clears the sinuses and disinfect them and also the lukewarm saline water calms inflammation of the nerves behind the eyes hence relief eye strain too. This technique cures headache in 5-7 minutes, yes this fast. I will put up relevant links for the same.
One small trivia : Keep our sinuses clear and germ free can save us from a lot of ailments even the currently trending Coronavirus maybe cause this is also a type of pneumonia ! I am no medical practitioner, always consult a doctor before following any treatment.
