I am writing this blog post to give my readers an honest Whitehat Jr Job Review. I have been a full-time engineering college faculty. In the Pandemic Lockdown, I had plenty of time on hand; hence, I decided to try for some online classes to teach to kill time as well to earn some extra bucks. I have appeared in three rounds of interviews at Whitehat Jr. Most of you must have seen plenty of ads by them on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. They are a Mumbai based company for providing online coding classes for school kids below the age of 14. Their initiative to teach kids programming language at a young age is reasonable, but their way of imparting education through their recruited teachers is shameful. I will explain here:

The teacher must follow a Script, which is sent to you by them in the form of a PDF – Whitehat Jr Job Review.
They have a set script for interacting with the students online, the teachers are supposed to teach and even talk as per that script only. In 50 minutes of interactive class, there is a specific set of tasks on the teacher’s and student’s side, which needs to be completed as all costs don’t matter if the student learned something.
The actual pay for teachers on the Whitehat Jr. platform is much less than the attractive pay packages advertised by them on Social Media –Whitehat Jr Job Review.
Guaranteed pay for recruited teachers is only Rs. 10,000 per month contrary to what Whitehat Jr advertises on all their Ads that earn Rs. 50,000 or more a month. Rs. 10,000 is paid when you make 120 hours in a month for them, meaning at least 30 hours a week.
Teachers are paid per class; these classes assigned can be trial classes or course classes decided by the Whitehat Jr management – Whitehat Jr Job Review.
Beyond this meager Rs. 10,000, a teacher is paid Rs. 275 per class for a student who has paid for the entire course and only Rs. 50 per class if the student is taking a trial class. Mostly the teachers are made to teach trial classes initially. That means 120 x 50 = Rs. 6000 added pay that makes Rs. 16000 a month only after dedicating 120 hours in a month and being a well qualified expert faculty. 120 hours is like a full-time job, can not be called a part-time job at all as they advertise.
There is a minimum probationary period before completing which a teacher can not leave – Whitehat Jr Job Review
Once you are selected based on that, you can deliver their scripted coaching classes as per their PDF; you will be on probation of 6 months, meaning that you cannot leave before completing 6 months.
There is a penalty for missed classes on the teacher’s part – Whitehat Jr Job Review
If you can not complete your stipulate 30 hours a week, you have to adjust these hours in the next week. You might not even get paid if you can not complete the monstrous 120 hours a month. They levy a penalty of Rs. 550 per class for no show on the teacher’s part after having agreed to take a class. No provisions of paid medical leaves and casual leaves.

Teachers in India are exploited and underpaid; this is a fact. All the people who have replied to the thread in Quora so far seem to be hiding the truth about these scripted online classes where all that the company is after is charging hefty fees from the parents of the children to provide a fancy education and paying the teachers a pittance of that amount.

I was eligible to teach the Advanced course at Whitehat Jr, given my Technical College teaching background. I completed three rounds of interview with Whitehat Jr, then I realized I could not teach programming in such a robotic manner, this was my replied when I refused to be part of any more interview rounds with them: “I have a small suggestion for Whitehat Jr Teaching module: Maybe a little less stress can be put on following the exact training pdf while teaching the kids and more on strengthening the coding aptitude of the students. Coding is not generic, and one needs to understand the logic first to learn to code. “

Whitehat Jr is a Mumbai based online learning website for learning coding through online classes. This company was founded by Karan Bajaj who is the CEO. Whitehat Jr has an online teacher interface that has two types of logins, one for recruited teachers and one for students who have paid for a programming course there. Through this web interface and video chat facility, a teacher and a student interact to learn a programming language i.e. JavaScript.
Recruited teachers are paid a minimum INR 16000 and maximum INR 43000 per month. The ads of Whitehat Jr on various social media platforms mentioning they pay INR 50000 to INR 100000 are MISLEADING. A teacher must dedicate a minimum 120 hours a month i.e. 30 hours a week. This is not a part time job as the ads for the same claim.

For students, WhiteHat Jr charges INR 5,999 for 8 classes and INR 99,999 for 144 classes. There are four types of curriculum for students: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Professional, and Advanced Tech. The fees for all these curriculums are the same per course.
